Are you a locksmith yourselves?
No. Schlossretter is a dispatch service and does no work itself. We connect you with the nearest available, vetted partner business near you.
How does the dispatch work?
In three steps: you get in touch by phone or WhatsApp and describe your situation. We dispatch an available partner business as fast as possible. The pro comes out on express and handles it on site. You discuss price and terms directly with the business.
How do I know which business is coming?
We dispatch the nearest available partner business. You learn which business it is and its terms during the dispatch, or directly from the pro, before the work begins.
Can I choose a specific business?
We dispatch by availability and proximity so it's as fast as possible. You're under no obligation: if the stated terms don't suit you, you don't have to place the order.
Can I reach you by phone and WhatsApp?
Yes, both work. On the phone you speak straight away with a real person – no bot, no hold queue.

Prices & payment

Can you give me a price or quote in advance?
No. As a dispatcher we don't produce quotes. The performing partner business tells you the price. You agree to the terms before the work begins.
Who sets the price?
Each partner business is independent and sets its own prices and terms. We have no influence over them and earn nothing from your payment to the business.
Do I have to pay you in advance?
No, no upfront payment is needed through us. You make no payment to us for the dispatch itself – you only pay for the work performed by the partner business, on site.
How can I pay?
Payment is made directly to the partner business. Which payment methods (card, cash) are offered is set by the respective business – best to ask directly when placing the order.
Do I get an invoice – is the work tax-deductible?
The performing partner business issues your invoice. As a household service the labour cost can usually be partly deducted from tax – make sure you get a proper invoice with VAT shown.

Availability & speed

Are you reachable around the clock?
Yes. Our dispatch is reachable 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – at night, on weekends and on holidays too.
How fast does a partner business reach me?
We dispatch on express and connect you as fast as possible with an available business near you. The exact arrival time depends on your location, the time of day and partner availability.
Does someone come at night, on weekends or holidays?
Yes, the emergency service runs outside normal hours too. Note that many businesses may charge their own surcharges at night, on weekends and holidays – the business sets these and states them in advance.

Trust & safety

Are the partner businesses vetted and qualified?
Yes. We dispatch to independent specialists with proven qualifications and value competent, responsive partners.
How do I spot a dodgy locksmith?
Typical warning signs are a vague teaser price, immediate drilling of a merely latched door, and cash-only with no receipt. What to watch for is covered in detail in our guide Locked out by a slammed door – what to do.
Will my door be damaged when opened?
A merely latched door can be opened without damage in the vast majority of cases. The exact method is up to the performing business – qualified pros use the right technique rather than force.

Cancellation, data & contact

Can I still cancel my request?
As long as you haven't placed the order, you're under no obligation. If a business is already engaged or on the way, please arrange a cancellation directly with the performing business, as its terms apply.
What happens to my data?
We use your details solely to dispatch your request to a suitable partner business. Details are in our privacy policy.
